What is Curing Compounds? And Types of Curing Compounds

Curing the compound is a liquid substance that is added to a newly installed concrete as a surface coating. A concrete curing compound is one of the compounds that can help to prevent moisture loss from concrete. So, the concrete heals properly which leads to the full development of the strength of the concrete. Curing compounds are used to reduce water or heat loss to create conditions conducive to the formation of concrete. Curing is required for the hydration of cement when making concrete. Therefore, in order to maintain the required humidity, caution is required.

Types of Concrete Curing Compounds

 ·         Synthetic resin concrete curing compound

Synthetic resins will make the membrane and seal the concrete. If we want to provide plastering, the curtain can be washed with hot water.

·         Acrylic Concrete Curing Compound

Acrylic acid is made from a polymer of cider. It seals the concrete well. Subsequent plaster has the property of sticking. If you want to provide plastering, you do not need to wash the surface of the Acrylic creek with hot water.

·         Wax concrete curing compound

Wax compounds have the same properties as resin compounds. The wax screen will lose the efficiency with increasing time.

·         Chlorinated rubber curing compound

The chlorinated rubber-type curing compound will form a thick layer when we apply it. It seals the concrete tightly and also fills the minute holes present in the concrete. But the film may not last long. It's been a long time coming.

Advantages of acrylic-based concrete curing compounds.

·         This helps reduce the rate of compression cracking.

·         This helps to increase the durability of the concrete.

·         This helps to reduce surface dust.

·         This helps to increase the abrasion resistance.

·         Helps to increase the strength of the concrete.

·         This helps to reduce the permeability of the concrete.

process of Applying Concrete Curing Compound

Concrete curing compounds formed the curtain when we applied fresh concrete. This member does not allow the moisture inside to come out of the concrete, so it heals.

These healing compounds contain wax, natural resins, synthetic resins, and solvents of high volatility. When we apply curing compounds on fresh concrete, usually white or gray colors appear. These pigments provide heat reflection and are also useful for checking the healing area.

When the finishing is complete the curing compound is applied and the free water on the surface disappears. As shown in the figure above with a constant rate of pressure, the curing compound is applied through a pipe for spraying.

Generally, one liter curing compound 0.20 - 0.25 m2 can be sprayed for the surface area of fresh concrete. Spray pressure is usually 0.5 - 0.7 MPa. We can also use brushes or paint rollers to apply the curing compound to small areas.
