SUBSTRATE PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
All contaminants on the
surface of the substrate should be removed before using Sika Multiseal Tape.
The loose particles, release agents, liquids, paints, rust, and other poorly
adhering materials must be removed using appropriate tools by mechanical
preparation or hand. Plastics, metals, and other materials must be thoroughly
cleaned with a solvent. First, a bituminous primer (such as Inertol-1) can
improve adhesion on porous surfaces (concrete, renders, etc.). At least 1 hour
is needed for the primer to dry.
TOOLS & METHODS FOR APPLICATION
Remove the release film from the
Sika Multiseal Tape, and press firmly on the substrate with a suitable pressure
roller. There must be at least a 50 mm overlap between all mutual connections.
A hot-air dryer can increase the adhesive's adhesion to the substrate during
application.
CLEANSING TOOLS
The removal of residual material
must be done mechanically once the cured material has been removed. If the
residue material is not removed properly then there will be chances of leakage.
SITUATIONS
Seals cannot withstand water
pressure. Contact your Sika Technical Service partner if you are waterproofing
with water pressure. Sika Multiseal Bituminous tape may discolor coatings,
plastics, and natural stones due to its bituminous content.
